World Challenge
World challenge is an after school team building club for 5th form pupils. Each week we set a new challenge designed to help students to work together and grow in confidence.
Sports Hall Activities
No equipment needed
Listening to instructions
1.Say what I say and do what I say. 2.Say what I say and do the opposite of what I say 3.Say the opposite of what I say but do what I say Band leader Players stand in a circle. Player A leaves the circle. One person in the circle nominated as the band leader, (they will perform actions of a band leader and everyone else will copy) Player A returns and has to guess who the band leader is. Sniper One person stands and counts to 15. Other players approach from a distance. Once the counter reaches 1 they must freeze. Any moving are out. Aim is to reach and touch the counter. Human knot Players link hands with two other people and hold postition. Without breaking hands they must untie the human knot. Shoe chain Players take off shoes and tie laces together to create the longest chain Giant map of the world Art attack style battle to create the best world map using sports hall equipment. Blanket games Each pair given a blanket to stand on. Players must stand on the blanket without touching the floor and gradually fold in half as many times as possible. Use the blanket to design a method to fling a ball as far as possible. Teambuilding activities
Create your own obstacle course
Creativity is required to create the obstacles, route and instructions Create own alphabet using only your body to communicate messages Need for co operation and concentration to decipher messages Mat Races A fast paced team game needing contribution from all team members Use two mats to transport all players from one end of sportshall to the other. Your feet must not touch the floor at any time. Lego Pieces & Shark infested custard Aim is to cross an area using only the lego pieces this requires co-ordination and communication from all team members Den building 2 teams Using gym equipment create best shelter to fit all team member Opposing teams bombard with softballs Den which survives longest wins Marble tube Teams negotiate marble through multiple tubes to end goal/pot Foam Rocket relay Lay out mats 5 meters apart - students aim to throw rocket to reach each teammate and to finish point without leaving the mats at any point. Blindfolded obstacle course
In pairs pupils negotiate the obstacle course safely using only verbal instructions Rope games
Bomb game
Pupils can use only two long pieces of rope to retrieve a ball from atop a bucket inside a circle. First team to retrieve the bomb wins. Hoop Games
Hoop Circle
In a circle pupils connect arms and maneuver hoop from one point to return to same position Hoop a cone Players try to throw as many hoops over set of cones within the time limit. Players throw as many hoops over Mr.Smith as they can. Hoop relay Players line up inside hoops at different points in sports Players throw hoops to eachother to reach end point in shortest time. players must not leave their individual hoops. Hoop collect Hoops are scattered along the halfway line. Two teams line up at either side of sports hall. Take it in turns to retrieve a hoop and add it to a cone on their side. First team to collect all hoops wins. Cone Games
Cups & saucers
One team are named cups and the other saucers. Distribute an even number of cups (cones faced up) and saucers (cones faced down) Each team aims to flip as many of the opposite teams cone to suit their needs. Most cups or saucers remaining at the end of a set time wins. Food Games
Cut up choc
Have to roll a six to start Blindfold/ Put on hat, gloves, scarf etc then cut up choc in relay First team to cut all up all of their chocolate wins. Spaghetti and marshmallow buildings Teams design their own spaghetti and marshmallow buildings. |

Nature Detectives
Identify as many types of leaf as possible using the leaf key sheet. Build largest leaf tower. Retrieve highest number of objects/animals from inside leaf tower. Leaf ID Natural Map Building
Create a map of the area using only the materials you can gather - decide which objects will represent different features Natural Painting
Teams given cup, a straw and large sheet of paper Fill the cup with part soil part water and use a palette Pupils draw a scene Team Drawing
Pupils draw scenes through the eyes of their partner. Pupils face in opposite directions One student describes the scene whilst the other draws Tree Measuring

Summer Games
Water on head
One student lies with empty container on head Other students aim to fill container with water by filling up paper cups from large container and negotiating an obstacle course (optional) Rice Krispies face race Pupils dunk head in tray of water then into tray of rice Krispies Complete obstacle course and sweep rice krispies off face into empty containers Team with most rice krispies in container in time limit wins Games for large numbers of players
